FIH names India’s Vivek Prasad as rising star of 2019

Bangladeshi archer named 'breakthrough’ athlete of 2019

Dhaka, Bangladesh, February 10, 2020: Recurve archer Mohammed Ruman Shana was named ‘breakthrough’ archer of 2019 at the World Archery Athlete of the Year Awards ceremony on Saturday.

Following public and expert votes, the winners were announced at the Indoor Archery World Finals in Los Angeles. Shana was picked by the world governing body as the breakthrough athlete and his coach Martin Frederick won the best coach award for last year.

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 10, 2020: The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, met a delegation from Iraq at the IOC HQ in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Korea joins China in Tokyo 2020 women’s basketball tournament

Hong Kong Olympian Ho appointed FISA continental representative for Asia

Hong Kong, China, February 10, 2020: The World Rowing Federation has announced the appointment of Ms. Fay Ho Kim-fai to the position of FISA continental representative for Asia. She succeeds President Liu Aijie of the Chinese Rowing Association, who had decided to step down from this role at the end of December 2019.

Continental representatives represent FISA in their respective continents and are full members of the FISA Council.

Usman Khan becomes first Pakistani equestrian rider to qualify for Olympics

Tour of Oman cancelled as a mark of respect to Sultan Qaboos

Muscat, Oman, Febrruary 9, 2020: The 11th edition of the Tour of Oman cycling race has been cancelled, organisers have announced.

In a statement, the Tour of Oman organisers said: “Following the passing of Sultan Qaboos bin Said on January 10, the 11th edition of the Tour of Oman has been cancelled.

Philippines postpones national sports events due to coronavirus

Manila, Philippines, February 9, 2020: The Philippine Sports Commission issued an advisory on February 6 regarding the postponement of several sports events due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China and beyond.
